Concrete curing mats beat heated blankets on a big parking garage job I did in Detroit last winter

Everyone swears by those heated blankets for cold weather pours but on a 8,000 square foot slab the mats held temp way steadier and didn't cost a fortune in rental fees. Anybody else find the mats work better or am I just picking the wrong blankets?

You watching the concrete temp pretty close with both setups? I'm curious if the blankets let you pour when it's really nasty out, like below zero, or if that's when they start to suck.

Bet @victor_adams you just gotta ask your concrete if it's cozy enough.

Nah man honestly I think everybody gets way too worked up about this stuff. It's concrete not rocket science. If the weather's nasty enough that you're worried about blankets versus mats maybe just don't pour that day. I've seen dudes obsess over temps within a few degrees and it rarely makes a difference on a slab that big. The whole heated blanket thing seems like overkill when a standard mat does the job 90% of the time. Plus half the time those blankets shift around and leave cold spots anyway. Just make sure your mix is right for the temp and call it good.
