Went with the cheap plastic vapor barrier instead of the expensive stuff on a warehouse job in Toledo last fall
Ended up with condensation problems inside the walls by February, had to tear out 40 feet of drywall to fix it. The owner's still giving me the side eye every time I walk on site. Anybody else made a penny-wise decision that cost them big later?

Oh man, that's a rough one. I've seen the same thing happen with folks who try to save a few bucks on vapor barriers in colder climates. The problem isn't always the material itself, it's that nobody accounts for the building actually breathing differently when you go cheap. That cheap plastic can trap moisture instead of letting it move, especially in a big open warehouse where the temperature swings are wild. You paid the price for learning that lesson the hard way, but at least now you know for next time.

Did you try switching to a smart vapor barrier that actually lets walls dry out?
