Rant: Diver trainee mouthed off about "old school" tables, so I made him work the whole shift
Last Tuesday at the dock in Morgan City this young kid fresh out of school said nobody needs to memorize tables anymore because the computer does it all. I let him run the day on his console and when it glitched at 60 feet on the second dive he just froze up. I pulled out my old plastic table from my bag and we finished the job in 12 minutes flat. Not saying toss the computers, but if you cannot do the math on paper you have no business working in brown water. What do you guys make your new hands learn first?
