The day my drysuit flooded on the first dive of a 6 week contract
Water hit my chest at 40 feet off Aberdeen and all I could think about was the 5 hours of surface interval I had left before the next dive, not to mention the spare suit was back on the boat. I switched to my backup reg and finished the job, but has anyone else had a suit fail right at the start of a long hitch and just powered through?

Ever notice how most things in life break right when you're furthest from a backup plan? Like your truck blows a tire on the only road with no cell service, or the power goes out the night before a big deadline. You just sit there, soaked and cold, and realize the whole job is now about managing the mess instead of doing the work. I respect that you switched regs and finished, because that's the real skill nobody puts on a resume. But it also makes me wonder if these companies count on guys like us to just eat the problem and keep going. Five hours in a wet suit is a long time to be a hero, man. Hope that spare was actually dry when you got back to the boat.
