Dropped $89 on a thermal paste kit for a 10 year old laptop, total waste
Client brought in a Dell from 2014 that was hitting 95C under any load, so I grabbed one of those fancy paste kits with the spreader and cleaner. Turns out the heat pipe itself was shot, $89 down the drain and I should've just tested that first. Any of you got a cheap way to check if a heat pipe is dead before you start pulling the whole thing apart?
