Finally fixed a tricky boot loop on a HP laptop this morning
I've been fighting with an HP EliteBook 840 that kept rebooting at the Windows logo for two days now. Turned out a loose NVMe drive was causing intermittent power issues, not a driver problem like I first thought. What's the weirdest hardware fix you've found that saved you hours of troubleshooting?

Did you happen to hear about that guy who fixed a MacBook that wouldn't turn on by putting it in the freezer for 10 minutes? I read somewhere it was corrosion on a tiny chip that got cold enough to make contact again. Worked for a few hours at least, which is wild. For me, a loose RAM stick gave me the same boot loop on a Dell, took me three hours to realize I didn't push it in all the way.

Hate to push back but the freezer trick usually just masks the real issue. The cold makes things contract temporarily but once it warms up the problem comes right back. I'd rather find and fix the actual bad connection than rely on a temporary bandaid.
