TIL the hard way why you never wet cure when it's 40 degrees out

After a slab pour in Boise last November that spiderwebbed overnight, I stopped trusting the old timer who said wet burlap would save it in cold weather, so has anyone else switched to curing compounds below 50 just to be safe?

Shook my head reading that, 40 degrees is way too cold for wet cure to do anything but freeze and tear itself apart. My buddy tried the same trick last March and his slab looked like a cracked windshield by morning, so I feel your pain. Honestly, switching to a curing compound below 50 just makes sense, saves you the heartbreak of watching your work fail overnight.
