My car's alternator died on I-35 during a rush hour delivery yesterday
Lost power steering and headlights near downtown Dallas with a trunk full of packages - had to coast to a gas station and call a buddy for a jump. Anyone else had a part fail right when you needed it most and had to figure out a plan B fast?

Man, timing is everything, right?

lindamartin said "timing is everything" but I gotta push back on that a little. I mean yeah it sucks when your alternator gives out on 35, but that's pretty standard for a car with high miles. You coasted to a gas station and called a buddy, so it sounds like you handled it fine. I've had way worse - like a belt snap on a two lane road at 2am with no cell service. That was a real problem. This just sounds like a tough afternoon, not some kind of life crisis. You had a plan B ready, you used it, now you move on.
