Rant: thought weekly planning sessions were a waste of time until last month

I run a small gaming channel on YouTube and always planned videos on the fly. A buddy kept telling me to do a Sunday planning session. I finally tried it after missing 3 uploads in a row. Now I map out 2 weeks of content in about 45 minutes and my views went up 20%. Anyone else resist this kind of structure and then get converted?

Oh, you just made me think of a planner I bought years ago that sat untouched on my shelf for six months? I was so convinced I was a "go with the flow" person. But my freelance illustration work was a mess of late nights and missed deadlines. Finally tried blocking out just a couple hours every Monday morning for the week ahead. Not a full schedule, just a rough list of priorities. It's like the mental weight of all that loose planning just disappeared.

Read somewhere that people who think they hate structure actually just hate bad structure. Sounds like you found the version that works for your brain.

Oh wait, I think you might have that backwards lol. It sounds like you actually ARE a "go with the flow" person, just one who needs a tiny bit of structure to make the flow work better. The Monday morning block gives you a loose framework so you can actually relax and be flexible the rest of the week.
