I swapped my weekly blog for a monthly email and my open rate doubled

For six months I sent a long blog post every Friday, but my boss said people were too busy to read it. We switched to one big email on the first of the month with just the best stuff, and our open rate went from 22% to 44% in two cycles. Do you think less frequent but higher quality content is always better for keeping people interested?

Your results totally make sense, I saw the same thing when I cut my own newsletter back.

Isn't it funny how we all cram our best stuff into a weekly deadline and then wonder why it flops? I used to force myself to post every Tuesday, and half the time I was just rehashing old news (like that one post that was basically just me describing my lunch). Cutting back let me wait until I actually had a good point to make, and people seemed to notice the difference. It's like they can smell the desperation in a rushed post.

My blog died from that same weekly grind.
