My coworker in Phoenix called my microwaved peanut butter and pickle sandwich 'a crime against lunch' and I'm still thinking about it.

That comment made me realize my comfort food is judged not by taste, but by how it looks before you try it.

Oh man, that reminds me of my friend who loves cold canned baked beans right out of the fridge! Her roommate saw her doing it once and looked totally horrified, like she'd committed a food felony. She made her try a spoonful though, and the roommate had to admit it was actually pretty good. People just see something unexpected and their brain goes straight to "nope" before their taste buds even get a vote. Your coworker is missing out!

Exactly, people get weird about food combos they haven't tried. Taste buds don't care about presentation.

But come on simons28, some combos are just wrong, like ketchup on ice cream.
