I finally figured out why my thermal iron was leaving marks on fine hair
It happened during a busy Friday at the salon in Springfield. The iron, a GHD Platinum+, started leaving faint, shiny lines on a client's hair after about six months of use. I took it apart and found a tiny buildup of old product residue on the ceramic plate that regular wiping missed. Has anyone else had this happen with a specific flat iron?

That buildup happens with everything eventually.

Actually, some materials are built to last forever with zero upkeep. Think about certain types of glass or ceramic coatings. They just don't hold onto grime the way other stuff does. The idea that everything fails is just giving up on good design.

Not exactly, some things are designed to not have that problem. Good maintenance can prevent a lot of buildup from ever starting. It really depends on the material and how it's used. Saying it happens to everything is a bit too broad.
