Unpopular opinion: I picked the $45 clipper blade over the $180 one and my fades got cleaner
So last Tuesday a walk-in guy sat down and asked for a skin fade, and my good adjustable blade had just come back from sharpening, so I had two choices on the rack: the fancy $180 blade I bought when I first got my license, or a $45 fixed blade a barber in Mesa sold me at a swap meet. I went with the cheap one because I was running late and it was already oiled and ready. Honestly it cut smoother than the expensive one, no pulling, no heat, and the blend line disappeared in like two passes instead of me going over it four times. I finished him in 22 minutes and he tipped me $15, which never happens on a Tuesday. My $180 blade sitting in the drawer now feels like a joke, I swear I only bought it because some guy on YouTube said it was the pro standard. Now I want to know if I am losing my mind here, does anyone else think price tags on blades are mostly hype, or did I just get lucky with this one?
