Boom truck vs crawler on tight city jobs, crawler won me over

We had a two week job downtown Portland last month, tight alley behind a 5 story building. I brought in my usual boom truck because it's fast to set up and I figured the outriggers could handle it. But the street was sloped and we had a hard time leveling, plus the footprint blocked half the alley for deliveries. The GC asked if we could switch to a crawler, so we did on day three. Night and day difference once I got used to the slower travel. The crawler's tracks spread the weight so much better on that asphalt, and I could set up right on the edge of the curb without cribbing half a day. We finished the lifts in four days instead of eight. My question is, how do you guys decide which rig to haul for a job like that, or do you just stick with one type? I'm thinking about renting a crawler more often but the hauling cost worries me.
