Paid $1200 for a load cell tester, best money I ever spent on the job

Last month I dropped $1200 on a portable load cell tester after two near misses on a bridge job outside Pittsburgh. We were eyeballing hook weights on a 50-ton rough terrain and I caught a 300 lb difference that could've swung right into a crew truck. The unit paid for itself in one afternoon because we found a bad sheave that was skewing every reading by 8%. Now I run it every Monday morning before first lift and it takes me 20 minutes tops. Anyone else using one of these or do you still trust the old feel method?

Whoa, wait. You caught a 300 pound difference just eyeballing it? That's not a load cell tester, that's a superpower. I'd need a signed affidavit from the crane before I trusted my gut that close.
