The pigeon that took a nap on my boom and ruined my morning

Last Thursday in Newark, I was doing a routine lift of steel beams on a job site near the river, and this fat pigeon decided my boom was the perfect place to roost. I kept going, thinking it would fly off when I swung, but nope, it stayed put for 20 minutes, and then it let loose right down the cable line. My coworkers got a photo of me trying to hose it off from the cab window, but the bird just stared at me like I owed it money. Has anyone else dealt with birds nesting on their rig mid-lift, or am I the only one running a mobile bird hotel?

Give the bird a little credit for picking the warmest spot on the rig, that's just smart on its part. You're running a mobile soup kitchen and bird bath combo, which honestly sounds like a better deal than most Newark lunch spots. Next time, pack a bag of bread crumbs and it'll be your best friend for the whole shift.
