Took me 4 hours to figure out the outrigger beam was just stuck on a clump of frozen mud in Fargo
Spent most of a morning last February fighting a lower boom that wouldn't telescope out past 40 percent, checking fuses and hydraulic pressure the whole time. Turned out ice and dirt had packed into the beam section overnight and a few taps with a dead blow hammer freed it in about 10 seconds. Now I crawl under with a flashlight before startup whenever it drops below freezing, anybody else got a cold weather gotcha that wasted half their shift?
Learned the hard way that the simple stuff is usually the answer. Same thing with my truck not starting in January, turned out to be a dirty battery cable, not the starter I was about to replace. Cold makes everything act up but it's usually just gunk or ice in the way.
