Tried to grease my boom in the rain and ended up with a face full of water and grease

Was up on a job in Portland last Tuesday, boom extended about 60 feet, and every time I hit the grease fitting a gust of wind would splash this nasty mix of rainwater and Mobilux right into my eyes, took me 20 minutes to do what should have been a 5 minute job, has anyone else dealt with weather making routine maintenance this miserable?

...and that's when I realized my rain jacket was more of a suggestion than a promise, haha. Man, I've been there with the exact same grease-in-the-eye dance, except I was on a lift in a drizzle and the wind just kept rotating me into the spray. Took me three tries to get the fitting clean because every time I wiped my face, I just smeared the grease deeper into my eyebrows. At that point I just gave up and told the foreman I was "weather conscious maintenance in progress" which is code for "I look like a drowned mechanic who lost a fight with a lube gun.
