Heard a writer at a cafe in Boston say 'prompts are just training wheels' and it got me mad
This guy was telling his friend that using any prompt at all was for beginners and that real writers just start with a blank page. I've been using a prompt a day for two years now, and my best short story came from a prompt about a lost key in a library. How do you even argue with someone who thinks like that? What's the most a prompt has ever helped you finish something?

Guy sounds like he needs to get over himself. @rubyschmidt proved you can write a whole book from a prompt so what's the big deal anyway.

Tell that guy to take the training wheels off his ego. My whole first book came from a prompt about a talking squirrel.
