Paid $40 for a hardware key and it locked me out of my own laptop for 3 days
Bought a YubiKey about 6 months ago because my bank kept nagging me about 2FA and I figured a physical key beats typing codes off my phone. Set it up on a Sunday night, tested it twice, felt like a secret agent. Monday morning the thing just blinked at me and Windows said the key was not recognized, so I was locked out of my own machine with no backup method set up. Turned out the USB port on my old dock was flaky and the fix was plugging it straight into the laptop like a normal person. Anyone else almost brick their own login chasing better security?
