Found out Ford made 8 million of one engine and I never knew the real number
I was reading through an old service manual for a 7.3 Power Stroke last month and there was a page in the back with production numbers listed. Ford built over 2 million of those engines between 1994 and 2003, which I kind of figured. But then I looked up the 6.0 and found out they made around 1.4 million in only 4 years, from 2003 to 2007. Learning that number made the head bolt problems way worse to me, because that many trucks out there with the same weak spot is a lot of repeat work. I always assumed the 6.0 was a shorter run than the 7.3 but seeing it written down hit different. Anybody else ever stumble on a stat like that and have it change how you look at a motor you work on all the time?
