Took me 7 years to figure out I was priming fuel filters wrong
I always poured diesel right into the filter housing before installing it, thinking I was saving the starter some cranking. Then a Cummins guy watched me do it on a 6.7 and said I was sending dirt straight into the injection pump. Anybody else make this mistake or am I the only one who missed this in training?

Yeah I did the exact same thing for years on my old 7.3. Thought I was being smart pre filling the filter until a friend who builds pumps set me straight. He said even a tiny bit of crud from the filter threads or housing can wipe out the injectors. Now I just fill em up after they're seated and crank a little longer. You're definitely not alone on this one.

Wasn't @grantadams the guy who blew up his injectors doing it this way?
