Used to chase every trending hashtag on Twitter for visibility. Now I ignore them completely.

Back in 2018 I was all about jumping on whatever was trending. Spent like 3 hours a day crafting posts around #MondayMotivation and #ThrowbackThursday. Got some likes but zero actual engagement. My boss at the time said "you're getting impressions but nobody clicks." He was right. I stopped cold turkey in March 2020 when I realized my best performing post that year was just a simple question about our product with no hashtag at all. Has anyone else abandoned hashtag strategies for something more direct?

Your best performing post being a simple question with no hashtag" really hit home for me. I went through almost the exact same thing a couple years back. Chasing those trends felt like I was doing something productive but looking back it was just noise. The hashtag game got way too crowded and honestly feels like people are trying to scream over each other now. I still use maybe one or two hashtags sometimes but only if they actually fit the post, not because someone told me it's a strategy. Simply talking to people like they're humans works better than any hashtag ever did for me.

Trends are just digital noise at this point. Real talk always wins over hashtag spam.
