Walked into a coffee shop in Austin last week and saw zero signs or QR codes for their wifi. I was trying to find their network name and password, but nothing was posted anywhere, not even behind the counter. The barista just shrugged and said "we don't really advertise it" like that was a normal thing. How do you expect people to stay and work if you make the basic stuff impossible to find?

Right back at ya with that "vibes only, no info" approach they got going on. Next time I'll just bring a carrier pigeon with my order and hope for the best. Like yeah, I'm sure the secret handshake Wi-Fi adds to the whole "we're too cool for passwords" aesthetic, but some of us actually need to check email or, heaven forbid, look up a recipe for a drink you don't have on the menu. Maybe they think asking for the password is a fun little trust exercise, or maybe they just hate people who bring laptops in the first place. Either way, sounds like their game plan is "make it impossible to work here so nobody stays longer than five minutes.

Actually, coffee shops usually have the wifi name and password printed on the receipt.
