My uncle told me to always book a month in Medellin, not a week
He said you need at least three weeks just to get past the tourist traps and find the good spots. I did a month last fall and by week three I had a local barber, a favorite coffee shop that wasn't on any map, and a real routine. Anyone else find that short stays just feel like a rushed vacation instead of living somewhere?

Disagree, I love the thrill of cramming a city into just a few wild days.

Yeah, the first week is just logistics. I spent three full days just trying to figure out which local bus went near my apartment without taking a two hour tour of the city first. By day four I was a pro at buying single eggs from the corner store.

How much of that month did you spend just figuring out the basics like transport and groceries? I feel like the first week anywhere is just logistics, so a short trip is mostly that.
