Overheard a landlord bragging about tracking nomad mail habits

I was at a coworking space in Chiang Mai last week and heard a landlord telling someone he flags any tenant who gets mail forwarded to their listed address more than 3 times. He uses it to deny lease renewals. Has anyone else run into this kind of surveillance?

Three mail forwards and they're already flagging you seems fair for short-term rentals.

Yeah I actually used to think the opposite honestly. Like more mail forwards meant you were just someone who moved around a lot or had a bunch of properties. But after seeing how many people abuse short-term rentals for scams or illegal stuff I get it now. @patricia317 your point makes a lot of sense when you consider how easy it is to get a mailbox just to flip a rental for a week. Three flags feels like a reasonable threshold before they start paying closer attention. Better to catch it early than let someone run wild with a fake address for a month. I guess I never thought about it from the perspective of protecting the platform and actual renters.
