That time a retired programmer told me to stop chasing the latest tools
Back in 2018 I was freelancing in Chiang Mai and met this guy who had been coding since the 80s. He saw me agonizing over whether to learn Vue or React and just laughed. He said pick one and stick with it for 5 years before even looking at the next shiny thing. I thought he was old and out of touch. But here I am 6 years later, still using the same stack I chose back then, and I've made way more money than the people who kept jumping around. Has anyone else gotten advice from an older nomad that ended up being spot on?
