Used to paint trim with a cheap brush from the dollar store
I always thought spending $8 on a quality brush was a rip-off until I tried a Purdy on some baseboards last weekend at my cousin's house. The difference in the finish was NIGHT and day, no streaks or bristles falling out everywhere. Has anyone else had a moment where buying a better TOOL completely changed your results?

Oh yeah because nothing says "I have my life together" like fighting a cheap putty knife that bends more than a wet noodle. Glad you found the real deal though, suddenly you're a drywall wizard.

Man oh man, you just reminded me (not the exact same thing but close) when I tried using a cheap little plastic putty knife for spackling nail holes and it was a total mess, left these weird ridges everywhere. Then I grabbed a proper metal taping knife from my cousin's toolbox, smooth as butter in about two seconds flat. It really is wild how the right tool can make you feel like you actually know what you're doing.
