I was using a putty knife to spread drywall mud for three years before a guy at the hardware store asked why my arms were so tired.

He said, 'Holly, that's a 3-inch taping knife job,' and handed me the right tool. Has anyone else had a basic tool mix-up that went on way too long?

Honestly, the number of people using flathead screwdrivers as chisels or pry bars is wild. Seen a few snapped tips and stripped screws from that.

My buddy tried using a flathead to open a paint can last week. The whole tip bent sideways and flew off, nearly hit his dog. He ended up with a ruined screwdriver and a huge dent in the lid. Some people just never learn to use the right tool.

Yeah, the flathead as a chisel thing. I used to think it was fine for light prying, like popping open a battery cover. Then I watched a guy try to chip mortar with one and the tip snapped, flew back and cut his hand. That changed my mind real quick. Now I just go get the actual chisel, it's not worth the trip to urgent care.
