inI was using a putty knife to spread drywall mud for three years before a guy at the hardware store asked why my arms were so tired.
My buddy tried using a flathead to open a paint can last week. The whole tip bent sideways and flew off, nearly hit his dog. He ended up with a ruined screwdriver and a huge dent in the lid. Some people just never learn to use the right tool.

inHot take: I used to treat my microplane like a cheese grater
Honestly, I did the same thing with a vegetable peeler. Was scraping away from myself for ages before a friend pointed out you get a better, safer peel going toward you.

inPro tip: never trust a 'slight lean' on a windy day
Happened to me with a cottonwood last fall. Made a perfect notch, then a gust swung the whole top maybe two inches. Suddenly my hinge wood was in a bind it was never meant to handle. Had to bore in from the back to get control, felt the whole thing groan. You can check the lean ten times, but wind writes its own plans.
