Finally decided to get the full run of 'The Question' instead of just the first trade

I had $80 set aside and had to pick between grabbing the first two volumes of 'Saga' or hunting down the single issues for 'The Question' from my local shop. Went with the hunt and found issues 1 through 15 in their back bins over two weekends. Was it worth the extra legwork compared to just buying a collected edition?

Hunting down single issues like that is half the fun, even when your feet hurt from digging through bins. I once spent three Saturdays tracking down a run of old Animal Man comics. The victory of finally having that complete story in your hands makes the hunt worth it. Getting to read it as it came out, ads and all, is a different experience than a clean trade. You made the right call.

Check the dollar bins first, always.

Yeah, my buddy did that for the whole "Knightfall" story. He spent months hitting every flea market and small shop in a fifty-mile radius, missing like two issues. The day he found that final copy of Batman 497, he just stood in the aisle grinning like an idiot. He said reading that beat-up issue, with the old Toy Biz ads and everything, felt way more real than his paperback collection ever could.
