Rented a $180 tile saw for a weekend, wish I'd just bought the cheap one
Spent all Saturday fighting that big rental in my driveway, took me three tries to even get the water line hooked up right. The $90 Home Depot special would've done the same job on my 200 sq ft bathroom and I could've resold it after. Anyone else regret the 'pro' rental route for a one-time job?

Man, that's a classic trap. Honestly, the real issue isn't the saw itself, it's that you're paying for someone else's maintenance schedule and their idea of a "good" tool. My buddy rented a floor sander once and spent half the day fixing the thing before he even started.
Plus, a cheap tile saw is a lot easier to sell for $40 on Facebook marketplace than a rental you gotta haul back and fill out paperwork for. That $90 special also lets you keep it for future repairs or that random backsplash you'll talk yourself into next year. You basically paid $90 to learn a lesson about your own time and patience, which is a fair trade but still stings.
