Had a real 'sinking' feeling when the main pump housing cracked on the old Erie 250 last Thursday.
We were pulling up a big load of gravel from the channel near the old bridge. Heard a sound like a gunshot, then the whole rig started shaking. Shut everything down and found a crack about eight inches long right along the weld seam on the pump. Had to call the barge over for a tow back to the yard. Anyone know a good shop for a rush pump housing weld in the Great Lakes area?

Man, that's rough. We had a pump casing let go on a dredge a few years back. Sent it up to Lakeside Machine in Sturgeon Bay, they got it fixed in a week.

Wait, Lakeside is in Manitowoc, right? Sturgeon Bay has a bunch of shops too, like Bay Shipbuilding. Maybe they moved? I remember sending a gearbox to Lakeside a while back and the address was definitely over by the lake in Manitowoc. Easy mix-up with all the marine shops up there.
