Tried the hot mud on a tricky corner bead and it saved my sanity

I've been using the regular all purpose mud for years on corner beads, but last week I had a job in a bathroom that was way out of square. The paper tape kept bubbling and I was about to lose it. So I grabbed a bag of 20 minute hot mud and mixed it up fresh for each corner. It set fast and held the bead tight with no bubbles at all. I finished the whole bathroom in one day instead of two. Has anyone else switched to hot mud for problem corners?

Saved my sanity" is a bold claim for mud work, but I'll take your word for it. At least it didn't end up on the ceiling fan.

That "saved my sanity" part got me thinking because I've been there with mud work where it's like a second job fixing mistakes. A trick I picked up is to keep a spray bottle of water nearby to mist the mud if it starts drying too fast, but not so much it gets runny. Also, don't use a metal trowel if you're working in a humid room, it'll drag like crazy and leave lines. Tape your corners with mesh tape before the first coat, not paper, or you'll be peeling it off the ceiling later. It's the little things that keep you from wanting to throw the whole bucket across the garage.
