Flip that whole idea on its head for a second. Buying used tools from pawn shops or garage sales is the real hack. I've picked up a Milwaukee Sawzall for $20 that just needed a new blade and a quick brush cleaning. Found a nearly new Dewalt drill set for $40 at a flea market because the guy didn't know what he had. Sometimes you get way more than you pay for if you know what to look for and aren't afraid to clean something up.
