Showerthought: I just read that over 40% of modern phone repairs are just battery swaps now
I was looking at some industry report from a trade group last night, and that number really stood out. I mean, I know batteries are a huge part of the job, but I didn't think it was that high. It makes sense though, with everything being glued shut and so hard to fix. It feels like half my workday is just prying screens off to get to a swollen cell. Has anyone else seen their repair mix shift that heavily toward just power issues?

But is that really so bad, @abby_wilson51? Batteries are just wear and tear.

My buddy's phone died last week. Took it in and the shop guy just sighed, said it's another battery. Third one that morning.

Honestly, that shop guy sighing is a bit much. Batteries are the most common fix, so of course he sees a lot of them. It just means people are keeping their phones longer instead of buying new ones every year. That's a good thing, even if it makes his job boring.
