Shoutout to the old Otis controller that failed on me yesterday in a 15-story building, I think everyone's too quick to blame the new tech.

Our 1998 Otis ran for 22 years before its first major board failure.

Totally feel that. Had a brand new unit go down last month while the 90s era one next to it just kept chugging along.

That old unit might still run, but it's probably costing a fortune in power bills. Newer stuff has way better energy ratings, even if it breaks down sometimes. My neighbor's ancient AC still works, but her summer electric bill is insane compared to mine. The tech in newer models is just more efficient, even if the build quality feels cheaper.
