Found out my sunscreen layering method was totally wrong
Last month at a skincare conference in Austin, this older esthetician named Diane told me I was putting my chemical sunscreen on after moisturizer but before primer. She said you actually gotta wait 15 minutes after moisturizer for the sunscreen to bond right. I tried it for 2 weeks and my breakouts calmed down a ton. Turns out I was basically mixing the layers together before. Has anyone else had a client swear by a different order and it actually worked better?

my buddy Mike had the exact same problem with his sunscreen not working right. He told me he tried putting it on right after washing his face with no moisturizer at all, just straight sunscreen, and his skin actually looked way better after a few days. He said his face felt less greasy and the sunscreen didn't pill up like it used to. But then after a week his skin started getting really dry and flaky so he had to add moisturizer back in. He found that waiting like five minutes after moisturizer instead of fifteen worked best for him, but he also started using a different brand of sunscreen around the same time so it's hard to say what really helped.

Wait actually that kinda makes sense now. I always thought you had to wait the full 15 minutes for the moisturizer to fully sink in but maybe it's more about finding the right timing and products that work together. Gotta admit I was totally on the other side of this before reading your buddy's experience.

Hold up, did Diane explain why the 15 minute wait matters? Like is it just about the sunscreen drying down or is there something chemical happening with the moisturizer that breaks it down if you don't wait?
