Hot take: I was wrong about using a steamer for every single facial for the last 5 years.
A client in Phoenix with rosacea finally told me her skin always felt worse for days after a treatment, which made me realize the heat was a major trigger I was ignoring.

It's wild how we can get stuck in a routine and miss something so obvious (like heat on rosacea). Makes you wonder what other standard practices might be wrong for specific clients.

Routines exist for a reason, @olivia_allen. They're built on what works for most people, most of the time. If we second-guessed every standard practice for every possible skin type or condition, nothing would ever get done. A barber doesn't stop using clippers because one client might have a sensitive scalp, they just adjust the guard. The basics are a solid starting point for everyone.

Ever feel like you're so deep in the routine you'd miss a client's face actually melting? Asking for a friend.
