Took me two weeks to realize my steamer was clogged with mineral deposits

I kept blaming my technique for patchy results in Austin until I descaling the steamer and suddenly my extractions were way easier, has anyone else had their tools secretly sabotage them like that?

The descaling thing is such a game changer. Had the same problem with my espresso machine and felt so dumb when I finally figured out it wasn't my technique at all. What other tools do you think could be hiding issues like that?
