Honestly, I saw two different city apps for reporting potholes. One asked for your exact location automatically, the other let you just type the address. The second one got way more reports.

You mentioned the second app got more reports because it let you type the address. In my experience, it's often the opposite. People are lazy. If the first app just grabs your location with one tap, that's way easier than typing a whole address. Maybe the first app had a bad design or asked for too many other permissions.

Well @the_james, you're right about lazy people, which is why my own address is still wrong in most apps.

@walker.max has a point about addresses being wrong in apps, but the typed address app probably worked better because it didn't ask for location permissions at all. Some people just skip those apps entirely if they ask for too much access.
