Paid $400 for a 'privacy focused' smart speaker and it still listens too much

I got the Luna Home device last month because the ads said it only records after you say the wake word. Found out it sends anonymous 'voice improvement' clips to their servers anyway, which feels like a broken promise. Am I wrong for being annoyed even though the terms probably allow this?

Ads can be pretty misleading sometimes... but anonymous clips for voice improvement sound like a basic feature. My old phone did the same thing to make voice commands work better. It's in the terms for a reason, even if it feels sneaky. You're not wrong to be annoyed, but maybe check what you agreed to first.

Totally get it, my old smart plug did the same junk. Margaret_kim13 makes a fair point about terms, but why sell it on privacy then, right?

Wait, why is sending voice clips okay just because it's in the terms? I mean, they sold it on privacy and not listening, so it feels like a trick. Paying that much money should get you what was advertised, not fine print excuses. Idk, maybe it's just me but that's a broken promise, not a basic feature.
