The time I got a burger that was somehow both burnt and cold

This was at a drive-thru in Springfield last month, and I'm still confused. I ordered their double bacon cheeseburger, and when I got home, the bun was black on the edges (like, seriously charred) but the patty inside was barely warm and the cheese wasn't even melted. It felt like they cooked the bun separately and forgot to heat the actual burger. Has a chain ever messed up your order in two opposite ways like that?

The Wendy's near my old apartment gave me a frosty that was somehow half melted and half frozen solid (a real feat of fast food science). I just sat in my car laughing at the sheer commitment to getting it wrong in every way.

My local spot did that with a chicken sandwich once, the bun was toasted to a crisp but the chicken inside was still cold from the fridge. I call the store directly now, not the corporate number. The manager usually gives you a free meal voucher right away if you explain the food safety issue with the temperature. It saves the whole back-and-forth email thing that takes a week.

My local Burger King did that exact thing last month. Got a crispy chicken sandwich that was basically a hockey puck on the outside. Took one bite and the middle was ice cold, like it never saw the fryer. I called the store and the shift manager apologized and gave me a voucher for two free combos on the spot. It really is the fastest way to get a real fix for the problem. Corporate just sends a form email and maybe a coupon for one free sandwich next time.
