A homeowner in Austin pointed out my post caps were crooked, saying 'they look like a drunk guy put them on', so I switched from a 4-foot level to a 2-footer for tighter checks.

What's your go-to method for keeping those finicky caps perfectly straight?

Switching to a smaller level seems like overkill for something you can eyeball.

Used to just eyeball it myself until a client called my work sloppy. A smaller level catches those tiny leans a big one misses. Now it's part of my routine.

Nah man, overkill? I've had to redo trim work because I trusted my eye and a 6-foot level. That tiny bubble on a small level catches stuff you literally cannot see looking down the board. It's like a cheat code for perfectionists lol.
