TIL the local co-op's house salsa gets too much love; in my experience, it's just chopped tomatoes. Your mileage may vary.

Mine was just watery tomato juice last time, total letdown.

Just chopped tomatoes? No way, you have to be kidding me. Mine from there always has big chunks of white onion floating in it, like, a distracting amount. Last jar I got, I was fishing out pieces the size of dice. Forgot the garlic and cilantro too, I guess. That's not salsa, that's a sad tomato salad.

Those "big chunks of white onion" are the best part. They give it a serious crunch and a sharp flavor kick that pureed salsa just misses. You got a chunky tomato salad, I got a proper textured dip.
