My $40 smart plug review turned into a home network meltdown
Plugged it in to test the timer feature and it somehow knocked my entire Wi-Fi offline for an hour. Anyone know a reliable brand that won't take down my whole house?

Oh man, @evac89, I had that exact fight last week. For me, it was the stupid plug all along.

You said it was the plug, but honestly those things are just symptoms. The real problem is the cheap power strips everyone uses now. They can't handle the constant draw from routers and modems, even if the plug seems fine. The internal parts wear out and cause random drops. I swapped to a basic, heavy duty one from an electronics store and my connection got way more stable. It's not about the plug or the router, it's about the garbage in between.
