I tried designing with cheap polyester versus deadstock silk for a jacket lining and the difference is insane.

Try thrifting silk scarves for lining pieces.

Pro tip: A client's 'simple' oak table in Portland last month taught me a new trick with shellac

Oh man, I learned that the hard way too. My first spot fix looked like I was trying to give the floor a shiner. I had this one plank that went from a tiny nick to looking like it got in a bar fight. Took me an hour of sanding to get back to square one. Your brush trick would have saved me a lot of grief.

Finally bought a good inspection camera for those tight spots

Man, I just don't get the hype for those pricey cameras. A good flashlight and a dental mirror on a stick cost maybe twenty bucks and do the same job 90% of the time. I've seen guys waste more time fumbling with the wireless feed and charging the thing than it would take to just pull a cover plate. That fancy camera isn't finding problems your basic tools and some experience wouldn't catch.

I spent three years trying to make my videos perfect before posting anything

Man, that's a great story. So that first comment really broke the spell for you. What's one small, specific thing you could check off a list for each video that would tell you it's ready, like "audio is clear" or "the main point is made"?

Hot take: I just found out my city's 'predictive policing' software flagged a park as high-risk because of a data glitch from 2018.

That "single bad data entry" thing hits home. A buddy of mine had his whole apartment building flagged for extra patrols because someone at the department typed an address wrong. Cops were rolling through his quiet lot at all hours for months. They only fixed it when a tenant got a copy of the patrol logs and asked why their building was on a high alert list. It was just a typo in a spreadsheet.
