I thought those cheap plastic greenhouse kits from the hardware store were a total waste of money until my neighbor in Phoenix showed me his tomato harvest in February.
He used a basic $40 kit but added a simple drip line on a timer and a layer of bubble wrap for insulation, which completely changed my mind about starting seeds early in a cold frame. What's one simple add-on that made a basic setup work way better for you?

Honestly, a cheap clip-on fan from a big box store. My first seedlings in a mini greenhouse got all leggy and weak. Stagnant air was the problem. Adding a small fan for just a few hours a day made the stems so much stronger right from the start. What kind of timer do you use for your drip line?

Seems like a lot of fuss for some seedlings. They get breezes outside, so maybe we're overdoing it indoors. Is a fan really that big of a deal?

YES the fan thing is HUGE. I stuck a little USB desk fan in mine and it was a total game changer for stem strength. My add-on was just some cheap white paint on the plastic to diffuse the sun and stop the leaves from burning.
