Trying to explain a meme to my millennial coworker took 45 minutes
We were on a break and I showed her a 'skibidi toilet' edit, which she just did not get at all. I had to walk her through the whole lore, from the original source to the ironic remixes, and she kept asking why it was funny. Has anyone else had to give a full presentation on a meme just to get a laugh?

Honestly, some memes just aren't worth explaining to certain people. The whole point is the shared context, and if someone needs the lore spelled out, the humor is already gone. Tbh, I just show them a different meme now.

True, but sometimes the deep dive is the whole point. Robin_lee is right that it kills the joke for most people, but for a few of us, the absurd deep lore is the actual funny part. It's like finding the one other person who wants to read the whole weird manual.

Honestly spending 45 minutes on skibidi toilet lore sounds like a personal choice. It's a meme about a weird head in a toilet, not a college course. Maybe the joke dies the second you pull out a powerpoint.
