Our local creek's pebbles are way more interesting than I ever thought
Honestly, I was just skipping stones at Miller Creek last weekend like I always do. Tbh, I never paid much attention to the rocks until my kid asked why some were smooth and others rough. Ngl, I started looking closer and saw all these different colors and patterns in the pebbles. I found out they come from upstream where there's a mix of granite and slate deposits. It's cool to think each rock has traveled and been shaped by the water over years. Now I can't walk by without picking up a few to check out their stories. This whole thing has made my simple walks way more fun.

Same thing happened to me at the little stream behind my old place. I mean, I walked my dog there for years and never really saw the rocks, they were just there. Then one day I tripped and landed right in the gravel, and idk, seeing them up close just clicked. I started noticing all these weird stripes and spots, like each one was totally unique. I ended up keeping a jar of the best ones on my windowsill. It sounds silly but it totally changed how I saw that whole path.

Yeah the jar on the windowsill is such a good idea. I've totally started lining my favorite finds along the garden fence, it's crazy how each one feels special now.

Actually did that with seashells from the beach last summer. Just having them in a bowl on the coffee table makes them feel like real treasures instead of just stuff. It totally looks neat and makes me smile.
